The Commonwealth Youth Programme has organized this Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work. The goal of this international youth program is to recognize and honor young people throughout the Commonwealth countries who are heading long-term and sustainable development initiatives in their communities. The Commonwealth Foundation and the Khalili Foundation have joined as partners for the 2025 Commonwealth Youth Awards Contest to present additional grants and prizes to the winning participants.
The main objective of the 2025 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work is to Highlight Contributions, Encourage Youth-Led Development, Showcase Talent and Creativity, Motivate and Challenge Young People, Provide Special Recognition and Support, and Recognize Peace and Development Efforts. It will highlight the efforts of youth towards development and create an environment to sustain investment in youth-led development. Furthermore, this international youth award by the Commonwealth will also highlight the achievements of youth in advancing a peaceful and prosperous future. In addition, the Commonwealth aims to motivate the rest of the challenging young people to make efforts and set standards for their work. This will also encourage them to progress towards the 2030 Agenda and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). It will allow young leaders to create positive change in their communities.
Young people aged 15 to 29 can apply for this international awards competition. Candidates will be selected, and awards will be given based on the level of impact they created, level of innovation, achievements, quality of evidence, and sustainability. The success stories of the participants in this Commonwealth Youth Awards will inspire other young people and demonstrate the depth of talent, innovation, and dedication among young people across different Commonwealth countries. This is a life-changing opportunity for young people to connect with the Commonwealth Foundation. Four finalists will be selected from each commonwealth region, and they will receive the Commonwealth Regional Winner Award. The top Commonwealth Regional Winner will also receive the Pan-Commonwealth Award. The winner will be named the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2025.
