REPORTING TO: Administrative Officer
LOCATION: Migori County
Job Summary
The overall function of this position involve driving the assigned vehicle; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical, tyre pressure and brake systems, etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work ticket(s) for vehicle assigned; safe keeping of maintenance records; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein a well as otherroad users; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle and ensuring proper, authorized and efficient use of the vehicle withinthe legal requirements of the Government.
Roles and responsibilities
i.Drive assigned motor vehicle as authorized ii.Maintain defensive driving and operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner iii.Always carry only authorized passengers and goods iv.Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route of service v.Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure vi.Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside. vii.Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets (work ticket), vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records viii.Fuel assigned vehicle and perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required. ix.Coordinate the schedule for vehicle maintenance with staff to minimize service interruptions. x.Ensuring security and safety of assigned vehicle on and off the road xi.Always observe traffic laws and highway code xii.Ensure that the road license, inspection stickers, insurance certificate and any other mandatory documents of the vehicle(s) allocated is up to date.
Required qualification
i.Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plus or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution ii.A valid driving licence. iii.At least five years' experience in driving 4 X 4 vehicles in different terrains and being conversant with vehicle systems such as winches and other vehicle accessories iv.Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week in recognizedtraining Institution v.Passed suitability Test for Driver Grade III vi.Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution vii.A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police viii.Demonstrated outstanding professional competence in work performance and results.
ix.A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicles(s) anofficer is required to drive x.Any training in vehicle mechanics will be an added advantage xi.Knowledge of basic computer packages xii.Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Kiswahili
