Oshwal Academy Mombasa is a private school owned and managed by Oshwal Education & Relief Board offering the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), International Primary Curriculum (IPC), International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), Cambridge Assessment International education (IGCSE, A/S and A' Levels) and Pearsons EDEXCEL International.

The academy is seeking to appoint a hardworking, reliable and skilled cook to work as part of a team responsible for food preparation and production for its Catering Department.

Minimum Qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate in food production/catering from a recognised institution.
  • 3 years' experience as a cook in a school or large institution.
  • Covid 19 vaccination Certificate and relevant public health immunisation.
  • Health and Safety Training.
  • Basic First Aid Training.
  • Experience with vegetarian meals.

Experience

  • Ability to observe high standards of hygiene when preparing and handling food in the kitchen.
  • Ability to handle and clean up large cooking utensils.
  • Good knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
  • Observing Health & safety and manufacture guidelines when handling kitchen equipment.

Person Specification:

  • Good communication; able to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • High level of physical fitness and good stamina.
  • Quick to move around and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to stand long hours.
  • Good personal hygiene.
  • Good time keeping and attendance.
  • A good team player.
