The USC Rossier School of Education is seeking an outstanding scholar to join the faculty. This hire is part of a planned multi-year effort to hire up to 3 tenured or tenure-track faculty who use advanced quantitative methods to conduct research on education, and who are committed to teaching and mentoring students in the same. They may be appointed at any rank (assistant professor without tenure, associate professor, or full professor), and they may be appointed in any of Rossier's four concentrations: Higher Education, K-12 Education Policy, Educational Psychology, or Teacher Education. The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research, and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.
We seek scholars who share our commitment to conducting research that addresses critical issues in education from pre-K through postsecondary education. The successful candidate's research will use sophisticated quantitative methodologies (e.g., econometric methodologies suitable for causal inference, randomized control trials, psychometric analyses, big data), and will be grounded in one or more disciplines. Candidates should conduct research related to educational equity and improving opportunity and outcomes for historically marginalized groups. Research interests will complement those of the current faculty across the school and will show promise for strengthening the quality of education locally, nationally, and globally. Candidates with demonstrated evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding to support research are especially desired.
Rossier faculty work closely with doctoral students and prioritize their mentoring and development. We are a collaborative group of scholars who often work together and with teams of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on large-scale research projects that help policymakers and practitioners improve education. We therefore seek applicants whose records demonstrate a commitment to high-quality instruction for students from diverse backgrounds, and who will be prepared, in particular, to teach quantitative methods courses. Evidence of success in teaching and mentoring (commensurate with experience) is required.
The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000-$135,000 for Assistant Professors, $160,000-$175,000 for Associate Professors, and $200,000-$240,000 for Full Professors.
