We are seeking a reliable co-leader for our virtual DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) adult skills groups. These classes follow the DBT model, which calls for both a leader and a co-leader. This unpaid internship is a fantastic chance for pre-licensed students or licensed therapists to learn DBT skills through experience and psychoeducational groups. Our co-leader volunteer positions have led to amazing opportunities for previous participants. Additionally, some students have been able to use PSYCHÄ“ as an adjunct site and log these hours for practicum/internship.
Co-leaders have the opportunity to:
- Observe psychoeducational classes led by a trained, licensed clinician
- Assist the group leader with various tasks, such as leading mindfulness activities, reviewing homework, and helping with group documentation
- Gain valuable experience and insight into the DBT model and its four components
- Learn all of the DBT skills taught from the manual
- Follow in the footsteps of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students who have successfully served as co-leaders in the past
- Receive a strong reference or letter of recommendation for school or future opportunities, should the co-leader demonstrate exceptional performance and dedication
The groups for which we need co-leaders are Mondays 5:00-6:30pm CST and/or Thursdays 4:30-6:00pm CST.
If you have any questions or would like more information about this opportunity, please feel free to reach out to us. Our Director of Clinician Management, Sally Roesch, will be able to provide further details and answer any questions regarding the co-leader role.
