The Lab Coordinator will work directly with Dr. Shewark to establish the CARE lab and with undergraduate and graduate researchers on projects related to youth resilience development. Specifically, research duties will focus primarily on an R00 project examining youth resilience development and the role of protective family neighborhood factors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading studies in the lab, recruiting participants, testing children and adults, monitoring data collection
- Participating in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
- Collecting and creating geospatial data, conducting virtual neighborhood audits, data entry, and data analysis
- Providing administrative assistance such as completing day-to-day lab operations, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling undergraduate researchers, managing participant recruitment, database management, purchasing equipment, planning lab events and meetings, and serving as a central point of contact for the lab.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related discipline
- At least one year of experience conducting psychological research (or closely related field)
- Experience with and/or strong interest in working with children from various backgrounds
- Experience with and/or strong interest in conducting family and neighborhood research
- Strong communication and public relations skills
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, managerial, and supervisory skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong data management and statistical background / knowledge
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Mplus, ArcGIS pro)
- Experience recruiting participants and conducting research
- Excellent written communication skills
