Under general direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate I for this exciting new project will explore individual differences in first graders informal math knowledge and how we can build this knowledge to help children profit from formal instruction. The position provides an excellent platform for acquiring the skills necessary for eventual advanced level study. This position is funded by the National Science Foundation.
Responsibilities:
· Plan, coordinate, and conduct research in schools.
· Oversee data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
· Assist with preparation of reports, graphs, and manuscripts for publication and conference presentations and other groups.
· Collect data in schools.
· Help maintain research partnerships with local elementary schools and/or districts.
· Plan and implement research staff schedules, including data collection, data entry, and training.
· Communicate with school personnel about data collection and findings.
· Provide training to team members in data collection procedures.
· Prepare research materials and activities.
· Code and analyze data.
· Help with IRB processes with districts and the University of Delaware.
· Work independently to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
· Perform miscellaneous job-related research activities as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Interest in children's math learning and education.
· Degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
· Knowledge of experimental procedures and data collection.
· Proficient writing skills.
· Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
· Experience working with children preferred.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
