HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER--KENYA
EDEN REFORESTATION PROJECTS (KENYA)
Location: Limuru, Kenya
**Kindly note that this position is open to Kenyan nationals only. Eden Kenya is not able to sponsor work permits at this time.**
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER to join our Kenya projects. In 2022, Eden Kenya is expected to contribute at least 50 million trees to Eden's global goal of 400 million trees planted, monitored, and protected. The Human Resources Manager will be a key part of the organization and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. This position is based in LIMURU, KENYA.

COMPANY SUMMARY:

Eden Reforestation Projects is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
pursuing poverty alleviation through environmental stewardship. Eden hires thousands of people in Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Nicaragua, and Honduras to plant millions of trees to help restore entire forests.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine
functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff in the department.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
• Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
• Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations and investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
• Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment,
interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial,
exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
• Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
• Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintains compliance with labor law of Kenya and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new
technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
• HR Certification is highly desired.
• High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat
• Job requires being open to change and substantial variety in the workplace
• Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, fulfilling obligations and meeting deadlines Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Experience in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with troubleshooting and analysis
• Experience in Adobe Acrobat is preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS:
• Pleasant workspace setting, comfortable temperature
• Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential
• Requires computer usage and sitting for extended periods of time
• Meetings may require walking and/or driving to various locations
• Extended or irregular work hours will be required during project launches and expansions
• When travel is possible, the position may travel and participate in extended
meetings, conferences, and training locally.
