Context:
Undertheoverall supervision of theHead of Policy and Program Developmentand the directsupervisionoftheHeadofSubOfficeKakumaand with close coordination and technical supervision of theChief Migration Health Officer, theincumbentwill carry out the following duties andresponsibilities:-
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1.Performmigrationhealthassessments(medicalexaminations)andcomplete related medical documentation of migrants referred for migration health assessment in accordance with the resettlement countries' technical instructions and the IOM MigrationHealthAssessmentGuidelinesandStandardOperatingProcedures (SOPs); 2.Providetechnicalsupervision and monitoring ofIOMhealth personnel to ensure that the following activities are performed in accordance with the technical requirements of the resettlement countries such as: medical case registration, migration health assessments,medicalformstransmission,medicaltreatmentandfollow-up programs, data processing and management, predeparture medical examination and report; IOMiscommittedtoadiverseandinclusiveenvironment.InternalandExternal candidates are eligible to apply to this vacancy.Femalecandidatesare encouragedto apply. 3.Treat patients with identified medical conditions of public health concern and/or safety such asTuberculosis, STDs and mental health conditions and refer patients to specialists for assessment and/or treatment as maybe required; 4.Administer treatment and vaccinations as per the receiving countries' technical instructions; 5.Perform pre-departureand pre-embarkation medical checks on all refugee migrants departing under IOM auspices, making sure they are fit to travel; 6.Ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting of all activities onthe pre-departure (surveillance, examinations, treatment, vaccination),as per IOMSOPs and as per the country of resettlement technical instructions; 7.Implement quality control standards and ensure confidentiality of individual health information; actively participate in and comply with MHD's quality control and quality assuranceprogrammebyassumingfullresponsibilityascasemanagerwith requisite completion and quality check of health assessment files andmanagement. 8.Assist in the analysis and technical elaboration of data gathered from the migration health assessment; 9.Coordinatewiththelocal/nationalhealthauthorities,physicians,hospitalsand laboratories, as needed; 10.Informand consult with theHead of Sub Office,Head of Policy and Program DevelopmentandHead, Migration Health Assessment Center (MHACon migration healthissues andpropose corrective and adjustmentmeasures. 11.Assist in the preparation, and implementation ofresearch activities related to the migration health, Tuberculosis and STDs and otherconditions of public health significance; 12.Provide healthcare advice to IOM staff in the sub-offices; 13.Undertake duty travel andmedicalescorting activities, be ready forrelocation of duty station to remote areas or refugee camps if needed; 14.Perform any other duties that may be required from time to time
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
1.Bachelors' degree in Medicine(MBChB),withtwoyears of working experiencein Medicine. 2.Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Experience
1.Minimum of2years continuous professional working experiencepreferably with experienceinmigrationhealth,routinemedicalassessmentssuchasforpre- employmentandinsuranceprovision, epidemiology and/or international public health. 2.Health sector experience in Africa is required. 3.Training/experience inPaediatrics, InternalMedicine, Infectious Diseases or any othermedical sub-specialty is an advantage. 4.Strong practical computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook. 5.Kenyan citizen.
Languages
•Fluency in both written andspoken English and Kiswahili
