LivelyHoods Kenya is a dynamic social enterprise that works to create livelihoods for youth and women in urban slums. Since 2011, we have built a network that trains and employs youth to sell life-improving goods, from solar powered lamps to clean cooking stoves, in hard-to-reach slum communities. To date, LivelyHoods has employed over 5000 youth and women to work as sales representatives. Sales representatives make an impact in their communities, earn a livelihood and gain employable skills that will increase their lifetime earnings. We have been recognized with dozens of awards and fellowships for social innovation and have been profiled by media outlets like the Guardian and PBS.

We are currently hiring for our Nairobi office.

The Business Development Associate is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a network of youth and women sales agents in a defined region or branch. The Business Development Associate is responsible to oversee, assist and guide the LivelyHoods sales agents in growing their sales numbers as they bring clean energy access to their communities.

Our ideal candidate will bring a commitment to LivelyHoods's mission of creating energy access for everyone, everywhere. The candidate will have the ability to work independently and will have a strong background in training, coaching, and mentoring and strong past experience in understanding business and Sales/marketing as well as a solid understanding of coaching principles as it relates to an entrepreneurial venture. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

This position is full-time and requires minimal travel to other locations. Local travel to support the network of sales agents may be required.

Ultimately, the role holder will boost sales and contribute to the organization's long-term business growth.

Responsibilities include

  • Represent LivelyHoods in a designated location
  • Recruit new LivelyHoods sales agents to the branch
  • Train new LivelyHoods sales agents in business skills, sales agentship skills, technical knowledge, leadership skills, and agency skills using the LivelyHoods training manual.
  • Coach new and existing LivelyHoods sales agents by providing guidance, support, and challenge to help them build and grow their sales and earnings
  • Work alongside LivelyHoods sales agents to identify opportunities
  • Work alongside LivelyHoods sales agents to identify solutions to their challenges
  • Work alongside LivelyHoods sales agents develop long-term, well-defined goals and realistic action plans to increase their sales to new and existing customers.
  • Aid in the identification of new products or services for existing markets or, new markets for existing products and services
  • Arrange and facilitate daily meetings with LivelyHoods sales agents in their branches
  • Ensure the safety and security of all LivelyHoods inventories and equipment
  • Process all sales transactions in accordance with LivelyHoods procedures
  • Maintain and update all required reports and data in LivelyHoods's HQ team
  • Achieve impact targets for branches aligned with enterprise goals
  • Manage and coordinate all administrative functions as it relates to the role functions and requirements

Professional & Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year relevant working experience
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree from any recognized institution

Compensation

A competitive monthly salary will be offered based on candidate experience and qualifications.
