VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Opening date:February28, 2022Vacancy No. CGHR/258/02/22 Project description: The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in collaboration with Washington State University (WSU) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention seek to undertake a Covid- 19 Vaccine Effectiveness (CVE) study in Kenya championed by the Family Health Unit (FHU) in partnership with the Influenza Program. COVID-19 vaccine effectivenessdata arecurrently unavailable in sub-Saharan Africa.In addition, conducting post-introductionCVEstudies in sub-Saharan Africawill increase science-based evidence, public confidence, demand, and utilization ofavailablevaccines. This studyaimsto measure overall and product-specific CVE against laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections associated withsevere respiratory illness.Theprojectis pleased to announce the following vacant position(s). Position:ResearchAdministratorKMR 6(1 position) Location:Kisumu,Kisian Reports to:Principal Investigator (PI) Dutiesand Responsibilities. 1.Organizing and supervising the implementation of allprojectfield activities and performing necessary support duties 2.Serving as aprincipalsource of information of study status and deliverables 3.Developing and designing local training and capacity buildingof project staffin collaboration with the study investigators 4.Drafting, editing and preparing correspondence, reports and other project related materials 5.Coordinating a wide range of research procedures and conducting a variety of complex tasks determined by the field and scope of the study 6.Working as part of a team in contributing to the analysis of results under the direction of the project PI and data team, collating, managing data during data collection periods (monthly) and providing quality assurance/quality control 7.Coordinating and carrying out designated research tasks and projects, making use of selected methodology and materials, desk research, or other investigative techniques
8.Support the submission of periodic reports of project status to the PI, regularly suggesting additional testsor modifications in current procedures Qualifications •Degree in Social Science, Public Health, Community Health and Development or related field from a recognized institution •Certificate in GoodClinical Practice •Proficiency in computer applications. •Good analytical skills and experience of using at least one statistical package •Planning and reporting skills •Good interpersonal communication skills •Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution Terms of Employment: Employment will be onone-yearrenewable terms (with 3 months' probation period) depending on availability of funds. Salary isas per the statedsalarygradedepending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
